Wahat are the disadvantage of philippines being an archipelagic country in tropics?

The archipelago poses problems and added costs in farmers and other producers getting their products to markets, and vice-versa -- in obtaining needed supplies/inputs. It also poses challenges to the government in responding to natural disasters, and unfortunately the Philippines lies directly in the path of numerous typhoos each year.
