Do Petunias keep blooming year 'round?

I live in the tropic of the Philippines where it is very hot all year long. We just purchased some petunias and I need to know if they will keep giving us flowers all year. After leaving them out in the hot afternoon sun the leaves seemed to 'droop' so I got them out of the sun and into shade and then they came back. Can anyone help me keep these beautiful flowers growing and can I make them into hanging basket flowers? Thank you!
