Is hawallian tropic tanning lotion good to get a tan?

I wanna get a tan cuz ppl be thinkining white but im actully not im mexican. and im gettin tired of them saying that. And this is my first time im getting a tan and will hawallian tropic SPF/UVA 10 work for me?!
